Ring doorbell customers angry at 43% price hike<\/p>\n

Users of Ring video doorbells have reacted angrily to a <\/b>huge price hike being introduced in March.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After buying the devices, customers pay a subscription to be able to receive alerts when the bells are rung, and review the footage they gather.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

That subscription is going up 43%, from \u00a334.99 to \u00a349.99 per device, per year, for basic plan customers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The firm, which is owned by Amazon, insisted it still provided “some of the best value in the industry.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Its customers appear not to to agree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

One took to the Ring message board to say they would cancel their subscriptions and boycott the company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Another user wrote: “40% plus increase in annual fee for no extra benefits. Not even an attempt to justify. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Kit works well but I bought the Ring option partly because the fee was reasonable.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Many other customers said they had now cancelled their subscriptions, while some said they had previously recommended the cameras but would not do so now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In a statement, Amazon said: “Since Ring launched its Protect Basic Plan in 2015, we’ve regularly found ways to enhance the plan to give our customers more value. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“As we continue to invest in the services we offer, we are updating our Protect Basic plan pricing.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The basic plan has doubled since 2022, when it cost \u00a324.99 per year for each device. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Customers can also pay monthly. For them charges are increasing from \u00a33.49 to \u00a34.99 a month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The upfront cost of Ring Doorbells currently ranges from \u00a349.99 to \u00a3169.99, according to their website. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
